Many schools want to carry out research to see if an initiative is effective. This workshop will help teachers translate their questions into school-based research. It is designed to help you take a question of concern to you and design a structure to provide evidence as to whether your school/classroom initiative is working and how, potentially, the initiative can be improved. Participants in the workshop are required to submit one of two questions that they or the school is interested in researching. These should be submitted at least one month before the workshop. There will be Pre-consultation with the participants via email prior to the workshop. This enables them to refine their thinking on the potential research topic before the workshop so the workshop can be more focused on their issues. The one-day workshop will address at least one of the questions for each participant. This is a key component of the workshop. In addition, the workshop will look at some of the issues that cause problems with classroom-based research and how to address them prior to starting the research. Participants It is designed for teachers from primary and secondary schools. There is no restriction on research topics. While all topics will be discussed in English, mother-tongue teachers are welcome to participate.
