For 2 or more participants from the same school/organisation who sign up, the cost will be S$250.00 per person. Fees do not include GST.

Workshop Synopsis

Have thinking routines become the fabric of your classroom’s culture. These patterns of action can be integrated and used in a variety of settings. This workshop provides numerous tools for student engagement to think critically about course content and become active investigators. Learn creative approaches for teaching students routines that help direct innovative thinking and guide classroom discussion. Move beyond simple responses to extend ideas, think divergently and reason logically. In this interactive workshop, thinking routines will be demonstrated as highly useful skills for 21^st century learners.

Learning outcomes

Participants will:

• Learn about thinking routines and how they differ from strategies and activities
• Develop techniques to work with, make use of and develop thinking routines in their subject area
• Understand how to influence and shape classroom culture to make critical thinking a more central aspect of classroom life
• Develop students’ thinking dispositions and intellectual character while deepening their subject matter understanding
• Learn techniques for students to generate, sort, connect and elaborate what they learned through visible thinking
• Understand how to extend and challenge students’ critical thinking skills in innovative ways
• Cultivate students’ thinking skills and dispositions to deepen content learning

Classroom teachers of all levels, staff developers, teachers of leadership programs and institutes, and leaders of school systems

About the Trainer - Dr Kathy Perez

Dr Kathy Perez, a Professor of Education at Saint Mary’s College of California, has extensive teaching experience training a wide range of students and educators from preschool to graduate school.
