School/Cluster Based Workshop Registration Workshop Synopsis This workshop will address the research and best practices on the importance of relationships, rules and routines have in assisting students and adults in achieving throughout the total school environment. This workshop will share strategies on how schools can enhance their relationships among all stakeholders, develop specific and general rules, and most importantly, routines that will create a positive climate for the flourishing of all stakeholders.
About the Trainer - Dr Philip Fitch Vincent
He has taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in North Carolina and Alaska. He has been a site based and building level administrator over his career. Phil has worked throughout the United States and Canada providing over 1000 trainings and keynotes since 1995. Among his many awards are a Teaching Merit Award, a grant from the Council for Basic Education, and Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Delta Kappa induction. In 2007 he received the Sandy McDonald Award for lifetime achievements in the area of character education. He was also honored by the Province of Ontario during the same year. In 2007, Phil with Doug Grove and Michael Corrigan formed, Multi-Dimensional Education, Inc. (www.mdedinc.com). We are presently providing research and evaluation to schools, school districts and organizations concerning the effectiveness of their efforts. In 2010, Phil became a partner with Core5 After-school, an organization focused on providing support for after school providers. You can access their materials and videos at, www.Core5Afterschool.org. Phil has written, co-authored or edited 27 books over the last 30 years. He was co-author with Joseph Hester of the "Philosophy for Young Thinkers" series in the 1980's and early 90's. These books are still in press in the United States and Australia. He also wrote one of the first books in the recent character education renaissance, Developing Character in Students (1994 and 1999) and added Promising Practices in Character Education, Vols. 1 & 2, Rules and Procedures, and the Gift of Character: The Chattanooga Story. More recently he has authored or co-authored: • Relationships + Rules + Routines = Results (2013) The CBS News and USA Today have featured Dr. Vincent's staff development work for school civility. He has written numerous journal articles about developing character, gifted education, computer ethics, and working with at-risk students in an alternative classroom setting. Dr. Philip Fitch Vincent brings more than 30 successful years of experience in education to his presentations, workshops, and best-selling books. With an academic background in philosophy, religion, and psychology, Dr. Vincent received his master's degree in education from Appalachian State University in 1979 and his doctor of education degree in curriculum and instruction from North Carolina State University in 1991.
