About the Presenter: Ms Tina Blythe

 

Tina Blythe-colorTina Blythe is a teacher, administrator, researcher, consultant and writer. She has been part of Project Zero, a research group based at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, for more than 20 years. Her research has focused on curriculum, assessment, and instruction strategies that support deep learning for students, as well as professional development approaches that support the learning of educators. Group learning processes for teachers and administrators - particularly processes for collaborative inquiry and the collaborative assessment of student work are central to her work.

Tina consults for schools, districts, and organizations around the world on issues of curriculum, assessment, and professional development. She teaches at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she also designs and facilitates online professional development courses. She serves as education adviser for the Silk Road Project, an organization founded by the cellist Yo-Yo Ma to promote innovation, learning, and cross-cultural understanding through the arts. For twelve years she was the Director of Faculty Development at the Boston Architectural College. She began her career as a classroom teacher, teaching middle and high school in urban schools and currently serves as an occasional guest teacher for 8th grade classes at a Boston-area independent school.

Tina is the co-author of a number of books (all published by Teachers College Press), including Facilitating for Learning: Tools for Teacher Groups of All Kinds (2015); Looking Together at Student Work, 3rd Edition (2015); The Facilitator’s Book of Questions (2004); Teaching as Inquiry: Asking Hard Questions to Improve Practice and Student Achievement (2004). She is also the author of The Teaching for Understanding Guide(1998, Jossey-Bass Press; translated into Spanish, Chinese, Swedish, and Georgian).
