Learning To Thrive By Going Open

Thrive masthead

How do we best prepare our children for a world driven by automation, and riven by cultural and
political divergence? How do we help schools to be centres of people-powered innovation? How
do we collectively create a new paradigm for education, so that children can thrive, not just
survive, loving learning and living well?

Valerie Hannon and David Price are amongst the foremost thought leaders, authors and facilitators working globally in education today. Their respective recent books, Thrive and Open, have been educational best-sellers - and form a complementary roadmap for schools to navigate an unpredictable future. Their work is distinguished by a sharp, evidence-based focus on the future; combined with clear practical methods for beginning the reinvention of schools which learners today urgently need.

Valerie and David are now responding to a demand for dialogue amongst education leaders about the implications of the immense challenges (as well as opportunities) which confront our societies, and the need for schools to respond.

This means breaking out of an outmoded paradigm; but whilst this is widely recognised, the practical steps of how to do it are rarely addressed. This two-day workshop features sharp provocations and practical workshop activities that will give educational leaders the tools they need to instigate change in their organisations.

Areas covered include:

What does ‘Thriving’ mean?

The 4 contexts of Thrive: Planetary; Societally; Intrapersonally; interpersonally;

What does ‘Open’ mean?

Open in context: mindset, leadership models, structures, cultures, knowledge management;

How to build thriving students, schools and communities by learning to be open

Implications for: Leadership, School Design, New Teacher Roles, Curriculum, Pedagogy, Assessment
