PROSPER

A Roadmap for Student Well-being & Positive Learning Communities

(From Preschool to Polytechnic)

Everyone is interested in how to improve their happiness and well-being.

A one day workshop to introduce PROSPER: a road map for the evidence-based school and classroom practices in positive education that build student well-being and engagement in learning and schools as positive learning communities.

The term 'to prosper' means to thrive and succeed in a healthy way; to flourish. PROSPER is an easy-to-remember and easy-to-communicate message that reflects the intended purpose of the framework and has the potential to inspire your whole school community.

The PROSPER acronym stands for Positivity, Relationships, Outcomes, Strengths, Purpose, Engagement, and Resilience.

Toni's presentation will outline the 7 PROSPER school building blocks for student well-being based on positive psychology and its application to education.

Positivity: helping students to experience positive feelings and a positive mindset about school both academically and socially.

Relationships: Supporting students to develop positive relationships with other students and teachers

Outcomes: Providing an optimal learning environment to enhance students' learning outcomes and their sense of competence in learning

Strengths: helping students to discover their own strengths and limitations, and how this self-knowledge contributes to their learning self-management.

Purpose: supporting students to gain a sense of purpose in what they are learning at school and understanding its relevance for their future

Engagement: engaging students in learning through providing choice, a voice and meeting their psychological needs

Resilience: Supporting students to develop the skills and attitudes that underpin resilient behavior

The workshop is suitable for any level of schooling.
