Presenting Carol Ann Tomlinson, Catherine Brighton, Tonya Moon

Professor Carol Ann Tomlinson

Carol Ann TomlinsonDr. Carol Ann Tomlinson is William Clay Parrish Jr. Professor and Chair of Educational Leadership, Foundations, and Policy. She teaches courses for Leadership, Foundations, and Policy and for Curriculum and Instruction as well as serving as Co-Director of Curry’s Institute on Academic Diversity. Prior to joining the faculty at Curry, she was a public school teacher for 21 years, including middle school, high school,and preschool. She was named Virginia’s Teacher of the Year in 1974, Outstanding Professor at Curry in 2004, and received an All-University Teaching Award in 2008. She is author of 15 books on the topics of differentiated instruction and curriculum as well as many professional development materials and over 200 articles. Her books have been translated into 12 languages.

Professor Tonya Moon

Tonya MoonDr. Tonya R. Moon is a Professor Chair in University of Virginia and teaches courses in research design, is a principal investigator for the National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented, is also a principal investigator for a research grant focused in the area of STEM and elementary teachers and students, and is past Chair of the NAGC Research & Evaluation Network and is a past president of the Virginia Educational Research Association. She is active in the American Educational Research Association, the National Council on Measurement in Education, and the National Association for Gifted Children. In 2003 she was awarded by the National Association for Gifted Children the Early Scholar Award.

 

Professor Catherine Brighton

Brighton CatherineCatherine Brighton is the Associate Dean for Academic Programs & Student Affairs and Professor of Curriculum & Instruction in the Curry School of Education, University of Virginia. She also serves as the co-director of the University of Virginia Institutes on Academic Diversity, a collaboration between Curry faculty and exceptional educators from around the country who provide professional learning opportunities to pk-post secondary educators and administrators. Catherine’s research interests include teacher change and school reform initiatives, differentiating curriculum, instruction, and assessment, and qualitative methodologies.
