Teaching Strategies to Meet Diverse Needs
(for Primary School Teachers)

Workshop Description

To help students in a mixed-ability class to succeed, a teacher needs to integrate different teaching strategies to enable students to understand the content to be learned. The learning environment needs also to be enhanced to address the diversity of the class. There should also be opportunities for formative assessment and extended learning to allow students to excel accordingly.

Learning Outcomes

  • Through sharing, discussion and hands-on activities participants will get a better understanding of the following:
  • Impact of different approaches on the various learning styles and multiple intelligence.
  • Planning an integrated lesson to enable students of diverse needs to learn, progress and master in the same class.
  • Using formative assessment and project- / problem-based learning approaches to extend students' learning.
  • The importance of valuing students to bring out the best in each one of them.
