Science Process Skills (Primary School)
Workshop Description Though science process skills are mainly used in the teaching of science, many of the skills could be used in the teaching of the other components of the primary school curriculum to help students process their learning. Besides, understanding the processes & skills, and how they will assist in the learning; the workshop will also focus on the use of hands-on activities and asking the right questions to motivate students to be curious and keen self-learners.
About Ms Brenda Yeow Ms Brenda Yeow has contributed 43 years to education service before retiring in Jan 2006. She has served in various positions starting from a classroom teacher, to science textbook/curriculum developer in the Curriculum Development Institution of Singapore, to vice principal, principal and school inspector. During the last 20 years of her service she has served in various committees in the MOE and conducted various workshops for school leaders and teachers. After retirement, she still renders part-time service to MOE in various projects. Brenda also has a 3-year experience as a Quality Advocate in the pre-school fraternity. She was also a Resource Development Specialist in Science Centre Singapore from September 2014 to June 2019, developing science resource kits and conducting Inquiry-based Learning workshops for primary and preschool educators. Besides being a leader within the schools and Ministry of Education, Brenda has contributed to the development of science education at national and international levels – organized science festivals/fairs/activities for students from primary school to junior college levels. She also conducts workshops for teachers and presented papers at conferences. Miss Yeow is currently an Educational Consultant with the Principals Academy and she conducts training for both preschool and primary school educators.
