Want Your Students to Ask for Help?
Assertiveness opens the door for students and adults to properly communicate with one another. This workshop helps educators embed assertiveness instruction and practice into their course content. This highly interactive session is tied to the book The Skills That Matter, and participants will learn and apply evidence-based instructional practices related to increasing students requesting assistance when needed. Participants will consider how assertiveness develops over time, and identify current student strengths and areas for growth. More specifically, participants will learn how to teach students: the differences between aggressive, passive, and assertiveness; recognizing and expressing emotions in self and others; and how to develop a 3-part assertive statement. Numerous scenarios and case examples will be shared. In addition to the one-day training, participants will receive and plan follow up activities to complete to deepen their understanding of assertiveness. Learning Outcomes:
