Workshop Description

Facilitation skills are an important set of skills we need in organising work with groups of people including conducting meetings, training, and planning. Good questioning techniques are essential in the engagement of the group and for effective facilitation. Facilitation skills and questioning techniques are essential not only in leading a team but also in interactive teaching and learning.

The workshop will clarify the role of the facilitator and take participants through the elements in the process of facilitation.

The workshop will enable participants to:

1. Understand the role of the facilitator and acquire the skills to be an effective facilitator.

  • Knowing the group members
  • Creating the environment
  • Communicating clear deliverables
  • Active listening
  • Facilitating group discussions
  • Managing conflict
  • Follow-up action plans

 

2. Acquire good questioning techniques.

  • Open and closed questions
  • Probing questions
  • Leading questions
  • Loaded or trick questions
  • Funnel questions
  • Process questions
  • Rhetorical questions

 

3. Practise facilitation skills and questioning techniques.

About the Presenter: Ms. Fuziah Taha

FuziahMs. Fuziah has been in the Education Service for 47 years. She started her career in Education as a teacher in a secondary school. She then joined the Curriculum Development Institute of Singapore (CDIS) and then the Educational Technology Division of MOE. As a Senior Media Specialist she was involved in training and development and the production of media resources for use in teaching and learning. After 20 years of service in educational technology and upon completing a Diploma in Educational Administration, Ms. Fuziah returned to schools to pursue her passion in developing children. She served as Vice-Principal of Ahmad Ibrahim Primary School and Principal of North View Primary School and Fuhua Primary School before joining the Pre-school Education Branch as an Associate from 2015 to 2019.

Ms Fuziah has spoken at international conferences and forums on pedagogical leadership and conducted workshops on effective strategies for teaching and learning and classroom management. She contributes to the community as a grassroots leader and serves in committees in the area of Infocomm and the Environment.

Workshop Fee:
S$250.00 per participant. If 2 or more participants from the same school/organization attend the same workshop, the discounted fee will be S$200.00 per participant for that particular workshop. Fees are subject to GST and include all training materials, 1 tea break, and lunch.

Remarks:
A minimum of 20 participants will be required for the workshop to proceed.

Other Information:
Registration is on a first-come-first-serve basis. No refunds will be made for cancellations or in the case of absentees. The Academy accepts replacements for registered participants who are unable to attend for whatever reasons.
